Breaking Free

If you are on Internet Social Media at all (and who isn’t?) then you are being monitored and evaluated by Artificial Intelligence that is feeding you your next information based on your preferences. On the surface that seems very helpful.

However, seeing and reading only one side of any story unconsciously directs your view and ultimate beliefs. If what you are also seeing is that anyone opposing your view is radical and a potential detriment to society then divisions and irreconcilable differences result.

Please understand this is Not a political discussion! This a discussion about Human emotional and spiritual direction. In the beginning mankind were separate tribes working independently. There were more than the present Homo Sapiens but those others didn’t survive.

The reason we survived AND thrived was because we began to work together. We formed communities and began to specialize in different aspects so that the community had food, clothing and safety.

Those needs though expanded greatly still exist today. However, as we divide and fight one another verbally, emotionally and physically we are eroding our original strength.

Social media and outside influences created the division and certainly aren’t the solution. Unplugging is an important factor. Even though it may seem extremely difficult cutting your social media ties, even for short timeframes, it is essential.

This is where your spiritual practices comes into play. Those with a regular daily spiritual practice of meditation and affirmative prayer are well versed in the benefits it provides. I have found that expanding that practice has come to my rescue as division and stress have become more prevalent.

Any time during the day that I am feeling overwhelmed, I turn off the computer and put away the phone. I close my eyes and take a deep breath. I focus on breathing in peace and exhaling my anxieties. After a few minutes any negativity has been released and I feel free and peaceful.

These short breaks are crucial to a sane and peaceful life. This is an important step to Breaking Free.
