We Are All One!

Welcome

Welcome, and thank you for visiting the Love & Understanding Institute website. We teach and practice a positive and practical approach to spirituality, honoring universal truths in all religions and respecting each individual's right to choose a spiritual path that fulfills their unique lifestyle. We provide you with the tools to learn and grow on your life journey.

We are an Independent Church recognized by the US Government as a Nonprofit Religious Organization under the IRS 501C3.

Our Mission

Our mission is to teach Truth Principles and ancient wisdom to assist in transforming our lives. We provide a space where people can be heard and supported as well as the ability to share their gifts and talents.

Our Vision

Our vision is to establish a spiritual community of loving, compassionate leaders who are examples of healthy, abundant, conscious, peaceful and joy-filled living.

Five Basic Beliefs

1) God is good and everywhere present

2) The spirit of God lives within each and every person.

3) We create our life experiences through our way of thinking.

4) There is a power in affirmative prayer which we believe increases our connection to God

5) Knowledge of these principles is not enough. We must live them.

Quote of the Week

Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to an understanding of ourselves.

Constant Learning

The world seems to be strictly divided with anger and negativity overwhelmingly being fired at both sides simultaneously. Maybe because I live in the United States, I feel the intensity of these emotions and see the results of the actions being taken so pronounced.

You are either on one side or the other and both sides are ready to fight! Everything seems like it is about to explode. What do I do?

The first thing that I do is stop and breathe. I have found that anger promotes a reflex reaction to hold ones breathe. That results in lack of oxygen to the brain and faulty decisions.

I am also a student of the teachings of Carl Jung, so my next step is to analyze my reactions and the stimulus that created them. From my perspective I can see all the hurt and harm the other side has created and feel righteous in my stance against them. Well, that doesn’t do anything to heal the divide. I guess that I need to take a different approach.

Nobody forms an opinion and takes a stand unless they feel that their path is right. So maybe I need to stop and try to understand the other sides reasoning. This means that I must listen to their media and read their writing to begin to understand what makes them so dug in their beliefs the same as I am about mine.

What I find if I am willing to be completely honest is that underlying both sides is a key element of FEAR. Different reasons for FEAR from both sides but FEAR is what drives each side to be so dug into their position that they are totally immovable.

Then I list all the things that have raised my fears about the other side. I then make a list of all the fears that are brought out by the media and writings of the other side.

I now have a point of understanding. If I am objective, I can see why their fears are moving them in such a static direction. I don’t have to agree with their fears; I just have to understand them. By doing so I now have potential points of discussion which could lead to compromise and possibly a working agreement.

This is the way that our government was designed to work by our Forefathers. And it is the way that it can work now.

If we are willing to learn and work at it!
